League Report
Week 7
venue-RBL were at home to top of the league Binton A. The result was perhaps a
foregone conclusion but that did not prevent Avenue-RBL from shooting well. Andy
Smith, first and Neil Beningfield, last to shoot for Binton A had the highest
scores 33, for the visitors. The rest of the team save two shot 31's. Jeff Smith
unfortunately had the only two threes on the target and was disappointed with
26. Neil Bragg started with a bull but then settled into a run of fours for 29.
Binton having eight shooters dropped their lowest score to finish on 219.
Avenue-RBL's Steve Ray looked on for a possible with five consecutive bulls but
a four spoiled the possible though Steve ended on a bull for 34. Paul
Nixon-Barron, Steve Everett & Jo Everett each shot 30 and Dee Green and Guy
Ganderton both slipped into the threes for 27 each. Peter Mole's accuracy
continues to improve over the seven pellets. He started with a couple of loose
pellets but then went on to shoot a bull and four fours for 26. Avenue-RBL's
total score was 204.
MEB went to Tiddington to meet Home Guard who were without their most seasoned
shooters and had to rely on A N Other as seventh man. Paul Clingan following on
from his efforts in the Whitbread, shot his second possible of the season
getting MEB off to an excellent start. Richard Mills was unable to find the bull
and was disappointed with 28. Sheila Clarke took a while to settle to the target
hitting two fours and a three but went on to shoot four bulls for 31. Jackie
Mills shot a three but two bulls gave her 29pts. Jan Beattie continued to press
MEB's lead keeping out of the threes for 29. Bill Gately shot a three then a
bull followed by fours for 28. MEB's middle ranks were not as strong as usual
with Kath Williams scoring only 27, and new shooters Karl McMillan 299 and
Alison McMillan had an unlucky miss for 25. Home Guard picked up the gauntlet
and with Steve Hodges' 31 followed by Derek Powers' 30 started to pull back
points. Veteran shooters Ray Hodgkins got fours and bulls for 31 and Gordon
Spencer struggled to shoot 27. Irene Parsons was Home Guard's last shooter and
with a string of fours and a single bull shot 29. MEB dropped their lowest score
for a total of 209pts, well below the team average. Home Guard's total was 202.
