Pairs Competition was shot to its conclusion last Thursday. Paul Clingan &
Richard Groom took the last place in the quarter finals after re-shooting their
match against Andy Smith & Will Cemis. Quarter final results from five pellets -
Tim Stephens & John Maycock 47.2 v Simon & Michelle Dale 45.4: Steve Everett &
Steve Ray 44.2 v Gareth and Tom Morris 46.3: Dee Green & Louise Price 38.1 v
Carl McMillan & Fred Williams 45.2: Paul Clingan (25.4) & Richard Groom 48.6 v
John Parrott & Neil Bragg 45.2. Semi Final results from seven pellets - Tim
Stephens & John Maycock had to re-shoot their match against Gareth & Tom Morris
when both pairs shot 61.4pts. The Morris brothers eliminated the competition
scoring 66.3 to secure a place in the final. Fred Williams & Carl McMillan 59.1
were eliminated by Paul Clingan & Richard Groom who scored 64.4pts. In the
final, Richard Groom put in fours and bulls for 32.2 and Paul Clingan looked as
if he would score yet another possible but luck was not on his side and his last
pellet went into the fours for 34.4 giving the pair a total of 66.7pts. Tom
Morris shot two fours and five bulls for 33.4 whilst Gareth who started with a
four went on to shoot six bulls to score 34.3pts which gave the pair a total of
67.7pts and a well earned victory. The trophy will remain in the Morris
household as the brothers take over as winners from Andy and his son Tom who won
the competition last year.
