Week 13
n
the match between Avenue-RBL and MEB, Paul Clingan was first to the mark and got
the visiting team off to a good start with 34, his second pellet just missing
the bull. Louise Price answered the challenge matching Paul's pellets up to the
last one which unfortunately dropped into the fours but nevertheless she
attained a career best score of 33. Kath Williams also shot bulls and fours for
33 which increased the early lead for MEB. Paul Nixon Barron started with a bull
but dropped a three before shooting fours and bulls for 30. Richard Groom who
had only been shooting for a few months but who is taking the sport seriously,
having bought himself a new Feinwerkbau also shot 30. Peter Mole shot a steady
string of fours and a bull pulled back one of his threes for 27pts. Alison
McMillan started with a three but then settled into the target to score 29.
Steve Everett had some tight shots on the bull, kept out of the threes and ended
with 30. Gordon Spencer had mixed fortunes but three threes pulled his score
down to 26 which MEB ended up scratching. Guy Ganderton tried hard to ring the
bell but it was not to be and with a three he shot a disappointing 27. Karl
McMillan (MEB) and Kerry Davies, (Avenue-RBL) both shot two threes before
getting into their stride. But four bulls and a four gave Karl a respectable
score of 30. Kerry was not so lucky and in first outing in competition shooting
she shot 26 which was Avenue-RBL's lowest score and was scratched in the final
tally. Jo Everett was shooting steadily until she dropped a three but her four
bulls still gave her 31pts. Fred Williams shot fours and two bulls for 30. Ray
Hodgkins was last man for MEB and his accuracy gave him 33 which brought the MEB
total to 219pts. Steve Ray was last to shoot for the home team. He was
disappointed with his three fours and four bulls - 32 which gave Avenue-RBL a
final total of 210pts. This was not enough to win the match but it was 10 more
than their season average.
Home Guard v Binton A - This match saw some excellent shooting not least of
which was Colin Fulford, who shooting for Home Guard scored his first league
possible. Andy Smith shot 33 for the visiting Binton team which put them into
the lead from the beginning. Richard Mills dropped a three on his last pellet
for 29. Phil Hemming started with a three but then, having found the bull shot
four bulls then two fours for 31. Jackie Mills kept out of the threes and with
two bulls scored 30. Gary Hooper shot a pair of bulls then a three followed by
two more bulls and two fours for 31. Irene Parsons and Bill Gately for Home
Guard matched team mate Richard Mills' score of 29. John Parrott scored a steady
30 which at the half way stage gave Binton what proved to be an unassailable
lead. Tailenders for Binton, Will Troth, Simon Dale and Michelle Dale kept their
cool and all shot 31. Neil Bragg was last to shoot for the visiting team but
with a three had to settle for 28 which proved to be Binton's lowest score which
was dropped giving a final score of 218pts. Home Guard rallied when Colin
Fulford shot his possible, followed by Sam Goodman 31, Steve Hodges' 30 and Carl
Villiers' 31 but the home team had left it too late. With eight shooters, they
too had to drop their lowest score and finished on 215. Though defeated they
were not disgraced.
