League Report - Matches shot on the 13th December 2007
Last week there was
an abbreviated fixture list due to the postponement of the Avenue-RBL match
against Binton B which will now take place on 27 December.
In the Home Guard vs Knights match, Will Troth and Chris Green got the visitors
off to a good start with scores of 30 and 31. They were matched by Jackie and
Richard Mills for the home team. Doug Dampier had a run of threes to score 25,
followed by Irene Parsons who fared not much better with 26 but who put her team
into the lead. Ruth Dampier settled into the target with fours and two bulls for
30pts. Bill Gately took another point for Home Guard with his score of 31. The
Knights saw the match slipping away from them when Lisa Edwards and Jon Packard
were out shot by Steve Hodges' 32 and Derek Powers' 31. Carl Rapson did well to
shoot 33 pulling two points back for Knights but it was not enough. Sam Goodman
and brother Ben shot 31 and 29 to give the Home Guard a counting score of 215.
Fran Westwood added 27 to give the Knights a counting score of 208.
Wilmcote and MEB both in second place in the league with only the narrowest of
differences between their teams' average scores were shooting it out for runner
up place in the league. Neither team had the advantage of shooting on home
ground since MEB moved to Wilmcote Club at the start of the season. A full
report of the match is not possible as the scores were not with the match
secretary in time. However, it is understood that MEB's Paul Clingan again just
missed out on a possible with a score of 34. His team shot around their average
whereas Wilmcote's performance was uninspiring. The match moved in MEB's
direction and they ended the match 7 pts ahead to take second place in the
league.
Tonight, (20 Dec) shooters will be welcomed to the Christmas Shoot at Wilmcote
Club.
