League Report - Matches shot on the 25th October 2007

Knights vs MEB:- For the first time this season Knights were unable to field a full team against a powerful MEB side. As usual Paul Clingan was first to the mark for MEB. H e unerringly shot seven bulls - his first possible of the season and got his team off to an excellent start with maximum points. Jon Packard for Knights started with a three but then went on to get three fours and ended on three bulls and 30 points. Ray Warnock for the MEB started well with two bulls and ended well with three more bulls but lost his concentration when his third and fourth pellets slipped into the fours to spoil his chance of a possible. Next for Knights was another new shooter, Antonia Dampier but with two threes she had to be satisfied with 27 points. Kath Williams kept out of the threes to score 31 for MEB. She was followed by Lisa Edwards who shot much better this week than last when she scored 27. Jan Beattie slipped a three but with three bulls she came back to shoot 30 points. Fran Westwood for Knights also started with a three but pulled it back with two bulls and 29pts. Sheila Clarke shot a steady 32. Will Troth shot steady fours except for his third pellet and became the third of Knights' shooters to score 27. MEB continued to shoot in the absence of Knights shooters. Ray Hodgkins shot 30, followed by Fred Williams 31 and Gordon Spencer 28. Knights had two A N Other scores of 28 and finished on 196 points. MEB dropped their lowest score and finished on 222 points.

Wilmcote vs Home Guard:- Jackie Mills was Home Guard's first shooter and must have been disappointed with her score of 27. Gareth Morris started well with two bulls followed by a four then two more bulls then another four and ended on a bull to total 33 points. Richard Mills shot a steady 30 for Home Guard and was matched by Lynn Brookes for Wilmcote. Irene Parsons could only find the bull once and struggled for her 26 points. John Maycock shot a steady 32 increasing Wilmcote's lead. Bill Gately kept out of the threes until his last shot and had to settle for 29. Andy Morris and team mate Alan Brookes both missed the bull with only two of their seven pellets to score 33 each. Colin Fulford for Home Guard did almost as well to shoot 32 as did Derek Powers who had a good night when he also shot 32. Tom Morris kept up the good standard of shooting with his 32. Steve Hodges, Home Guard's final shooter shot a very respectable 30 to bring his team's total to 206 points. Paul Boazman struggled to get 26 and Tim Stephens had an unbroken string of fours and 28 points. Wilmcote dropped their lowest score and ended on 221 points.

Binton B vs Avenue-RBL:- Binton Social Club's second team were at home to Avenue-RBL. Guy Ganderton, for the visitors, and who has not shot for three weeks was disappointed with his score of 27. Roy Clarke was equally disappointed when he too shot 27. Steve Everett felt he had a poor night when yet another 27 was notched up on the scoreboard. Mike Perry for Binton B had not much better luck and 28 points. Jo Everett also had difficulties and was only able to shoot 28. This low scoring match took a turn for the better when the home team's Gordon O'nions shot three bulls and kept out of the threes to score 31. Paul Nixon Barron for Avenue-RBL although starting with a bull found it difficult to settle and he ended on 28 too. Bill Fleming and team mate Brian Portman for Binton B both shot steady fours with their fifth pellet slipping into the threes so it was back to scores of 27 again. Dee Green, captain of the visiting team had a disastrous night being unable to find the bull at all and slipping into the threes more often than she would have liked. Ben Chamberlain for the home team lifted the scoring with three bulls and 31 points. Man of the match was Avenue-RBL's Steve Ray who only slipped one pellet from his seven into the fours. However, this slip, meant he lost his chance at a possible but it significantly raised the visitor's score line. Rob Johnson was the last shooter of the night. He mirrored Ben's score to give the home team a final score of 202 points. Avenue-RBL with one A N Other score of 27 ended the night on 195 points.
