Matches shot on 30th November 2006.
The Avenue Sports & Social Club (ASSC) team
got off to a good start in last Thursday's match against RBL. Fran Westwood's 30
and Carl Rapson's 32 ( his personal best shot), put ASSC into an early lead.
ASSC kept the pressure on shooting no stray 3's and after 4 shooters the points
were equal. Steve Ray (RBL) shot a respectable 32 but was disappointed with his
shooting! It was wonderful to see Peter Mole (RBL) back into competition
shooting after a 4 year gap due to ill health. RBL finished on 204, enough to
beat ASSC on almost any other night, but Jo Everett's 31 and Louise Price's 30
confirmed the match was ASSC's. Jon Packard, shooting last for ASSC shot a
seasonal personal best of 33 and took the team to a final score of 216pts - the
best score they have had in league shooting since this writer's records began.
MEB were at home to Binton. Binton shot consistently with Alan Dyer getting 33
and team mates Simon & Michelle Dale and Neil Beningfield each shooting 32. MEB
must be relieved to have Paul Clingan back in their ranks and shooting true to
form he shot a possible on only his second appearance this season. Fred Williams
and Gordon Spencer shot 32 each and the team finished on 215pts. Binton
continued to notch up points with another win with 222pts.
The Binton B team faced Wilmcote. Wilmcote lead all the way in this match with
Andy and Gareth Morris just missing out on a possible with 34's. Lynn Brookes
shot well with 33pts and was supported by the rest of the team who only shot 2
stray 3's all night to finish with another high score of 226 points. The best
Binton B could do was two 32's from Jim Usher and Gordon O'nions. The team also
only shot two stray 3's but they found the bull on their home target illusive
and ended on 212pts.
This year's Christmas Shoot is to take place on Tues 12 December 2006. Will all
shooters please consider this an appeal for a good turn out.
The final matches in this year's league will take place on Thursday 14 December
with MEB v Binton B; Wilmcote v RBL; Binton v Home Guard. ASSC have a bye.
