Matches shot on 23rd November 2006.
Thursday 23 November 2006 - Joint league
leaders Binton and Wilmcote met at Wilmcote WMC in a bid to top the league.
Eager to meet the challenge, Binton set up a practice night on Tuesday and
Wilmcote have been getting in some practice on Sunday evenings for a few weeks
now. The match was very tense and nervy and saw some great shooting under
pressure. Outstanding shooting from Andy Morris who was first up for Wilmcote
and shot a possible, (or 35.6 if we were scoring 5.1s), Lyn Brookes 33pts and
Alan Brookes 34pts (Wilmcote) took Wilmcote into the lead with Binton shooting
catch up throughout most of the match. However, Michelle Dale 34pts and Andrew
Smith 33pts pegged back some of the
points for Binton. Both teams fielded their better shooters first which kept the
game very close. It was down to Ron Bailey (8th shooter for Binton) to salvage
some points from the match. He needed a 34 to win, and after some outstanding
pressure shooting managed 33 to tie with Wilmcote. The night ended with a
particularly high score of 226pts from both teams. The score is well above each
team's league average.
Meanwhile back at Binton Club, Binton B, formerly Mason's Arms, were at home to
Avenue Sports & Social Club (ASSC). Both teams got off to a slow start with Roy
Clarke for Binton B, unable to find the accuracy he displayed in the Whitbread
Individual Competition and Dennis Ganderton (ASSC) who despite shooting a number
of bulls in practice could not repeat his performance in the match. Binton B
with consistent shooting gradually pulled away from the ASSC team so that after
the 6th shooter they had 176pts and ASSC only 138pts. Jo Everett shot a seasonal
personal best of 31 and Dee Green, who has only shot a couple of times this
season, also shot a personal best of 30 to boost ASSC's score to a more
respectable 199pts. Binton B with A N Other totalled 201pts and won the match.
