MEB continue to rack up points for Webley Shield

The Home Guard (HG) Club at Tiddington put on a good show against MEB last Thursday when two shooters from each team turned in personal best scores. Sam Goodman shot 33 and Jackie Mills 31 points for HG with Ray Warnock shooting 34 and Jan Beattie 31 for MEB. With just a smattering of threes on the target HG shot well to score 215 points - 10 better than their league average. MEB with a single 3 on the target shot 218 - 14 better than their league average and with a point from HG for the handicap, took the match with 219 points. MEB are now equal top with RBL having played and won 2 matches for 4 points in the league table.

RBL had a bye last week.

Binton and Wilmcote met at Binton Club for their needle match. Yet again Andy Morris for the visitors shot 34. This week it was his 5th shot which slipped into the 4 ring. Alan Brookes shot a steady 33 for Wilmcote and with just 3 threes, and one handicap point from Binton, Wilmcote totted up 218pts. Binton seemed less sure of their target. Simon Dale shot 4 bulls then two fours and finished on a bull to get 33pts. Michelle Dale was a little less consistent than in previous weeks, shooting a 4 then a 5 three times then ending on a bull to give her 32pts and Jeff Smith equalled his seasonal best. However with 4 threes on the target, more than in all their Webley matches so far, the team could only score 210 - well below their league average.

Avenue Sports & Social Club were at home to the second Binton team. Fran Westwood (ASSC) took one point from Jim Usher (Binton B), then Paul Nixon-Barron (ASSC) equalled Roy Clarke's 29. Carl Rapson (ASSC) took another point from Gordon O'nions. Mike Perry (Binton B ) was matched by Steve Everett (ASSC). Ben Chamberlain (Binton B) with his Feinwerkbau rifle was man of the match with 32pts and Dennis Ganderton (ASSC) shot a personal best. Jo Everett and Dee Green both shot 30 to give ASSC the edge. Binton B totalled 200pts and ASSC 205 plus 4 point handicap from Binton B to take the match.

Home Guard and Wilmcote are in equal 3rd place, ASSC and Binton in equal 5th with Binton B at the foot of the Webley Shield table. Andy Morris has returned to the top of the individual averages tables with 34pts. Paul Clingan has dropped to 2nd place with an average of 33.5, after his score of 32 in last week's match.
