Matches shot on 14th December 2006.

Last Thurs (14 Dec) saw the last matches in the 2006 L C Docker Cup or Stratford Air Gun League Competition. Wilmcote were still notching up some very high scores in their matches and were proving to be keen challengers for pole position against rivals Binton who were also exhibiting some fine shooting in their matches.

RBL were guests at Wilmcote where they suffered mixed fortunes on the night. Bob Marshall and Lloyd Dencer both shot 30 and Steve Ray was the team's best shot with 31 though I am sure he will not be very happy with his score. Unluckily Jim Tyler got off to a poor start with a missed shot but pulled back a couple of points when he shot 2 bulls. Andy Morris and Alan Brookes are still firing on all cylinders this season with scores of 34. John Maycock who has previous experience from shooting in the Solihull League looked to be on for a possible until his 6th shot scored a 4 giving him 34pts too. Wilmcote continued their run of wins with 226pts against RBL's 200pts.

Home Guard (HG) visited Binton with both teams fielding 8 shooters. Richard Mills was first up for HG and shot a solid 30pts. Team mates Sam Goodman, Derek Powers and Colin Fulford had a good night with 32, 31 and 33pts respectively. Binton shot very well in deed with a string of 30+ scores to their credit. The team only had one 3 on the target throughout the match. Funnily enough this was from Gary Hooper who's 33 was the highest score of the match. Simon & Michelle Dale and Neil Beningfield each shot 32. Binton's 222pts put HG into second place.

MEB and Binton B seem to be late sending in the details of their match.

Binton and Wilmcote matched each other's performances, losing only one match and drawing only one match all season to give both teams 21pts. The league winner is therefore decided by the highest average score. Wilmcote having an average of 219.67pts, were pipped at the post by Binton's 220.73pts.

At the close of the league season, Andy Morris (Wilmcote) was leading the individual averages with 33.58pts from 12 matches, until Paul Clingan's return for the MEB. Paul has only shot in 3 matches but has scored 2 possibles and has an average of 34pts. Steve Ray (RBL) is third in the table with an average of 33.2pts from 5 matches.

In the Improvement Competition, Wilmcote's Andy Morris, Gareth Morris and Alan Brookes are leading with percentage improvements of 46.94%, 38.63% and 37.04% respectively. It should come as no surprise as it is understood that the team have used well over 12,000 pellets in practice and competition nights since last season.

Team Delegates are reminded that the next meeting will be on Tuesday 2 Jan 2007 and shooting begins again on 4 Jan when teams meet to contest the first matches in the shortened Webley Shield Competition. The matches will be:- HG vs ASSC; MEB vs Wilmcote; Binton vs RBL. Binton B have a bye.
