Matches shot on 14th September 2006.
Last Thursday saw the start of a new season
for air gun shooters when Stratford Air Gun League (SAGL) teams began the
competition for the 2006 L C Docker League Cup. The Avenue Sports & Social Club
(ASSC) is the new home for the team which previously shot at the Salmon Tail.
The club was host to last year's league winners MEB.
Steve Everett and Jon Packard (ASSC) both shot steadily to score 31pts each. Ray
Warnock (MEB) was the best shooter in the match with a score of 33pts. Each team
has added a new shooter to its ranks. Dennis Ganderton (ASSC) and Jude Tucker
(MEB) who both got off to a respectable start with 26pts. ASSC were very pleased
to win their first league match in almost 2 years shooting 205 to 201pts. They
will be more pleased to hear they are top of the league.
Home Guard (HG) and RBL reversed their fixture and so met at Tiddington. This
was a close match, with Colin Fulford (HG), Hylton Calcutt, Lloyd Dencer and
Steve Ray (RBL) all on form shooting 32pts each. Irene Parsons (HG) also did
well to shoot more than 2 points above her last season's average. HG were also
able to add new shooters to their team this season. Brothers Ben and Sam Goodman
each shot 28pts - brotherly rivalry? The match ended in a draw, 207pts
each.
The match between Mason's Arms and Binton was postponed and Wilmcote start the
season next week having had a bye.
