Matches shot on 11th January 2007.

Binton were on form when they shot against Avenue Sports & Social Club (ASSC) last Thursday. Simon Dale, Gary Hooper and Neil Beningfield each shot 32 for Binton. Paul Nixon-Barron and Carl Rapson both shot a respectable 30 for ASSC but it was the ladies, Michelle Dale (Binton) and Jo Everett (ASSC) who were best shots on the night with their scores of 33 and 31 respectively. Binton were handicapped by giving 20 points to ASSC but they shot 221 and ASSC could only manage 218pts.

As usual, Richard Mills was first up for Home Guard (HG) and Andy Morris first to shoot for Wilmcote. Richard shot 33, a seasonal best, to get HG off to a good start but yet again Andy hit 34, this time it was his first pellet that missed the bull preventing him from getting a possible. Home Guard with a smattering of 3's on the target drifted behind the consistent Wilmcote team. Sam Goodman shot another good score, 32, placing him well up in the 2006/07 individual Webley averages. Wilmcote shot 219pts, only 0.67 below their league average and Home Guard shot just above theirs. However, Wilmcote were handicapped and gave Home Guard 14 points with the consequence that the match ended on 219pts each. therefore 1 point each.

RBL, who finished 4th in the league, turned out a full team for their match against Binton B who were 6th in the league. There was some firm competition for RBL even though Binton B could only field 6 shooters and had to rely on A N Other. Rob Johnson and Gordon O'nions shot personal seasonal bests of 33 for Binton B. John Dencer and his brother Lloyd for RBL, also shot 33 to even out the scores. Man of the match was Steve Ray (RBL) who shot 34 just missing out on a possible. With only 6 shooters, Binton B got the benefit of 28pts for A N Other and 3 pts from the handicap table to end the match on 215pts. RBL pipped them at the post with 219pts and continuing their unbeaten run (only two matches mind) took the lead in the Webley Shield table.

On Monday 21 January, a team from the Evesham League will visit Stratford for the second leg of the Avon Challenge Competition. Stratford, the under dogs, having lost the first leg are hoping to do better on home territory.
